I am about to purchase a new amp, but i dont want it to be too expensive. i found 100 watt fender amp for $300, is it worth it? if not, what amps are good budget amps?
I assume you’re talking about the Frontman. It is as good as most any $300 solid state amp I suppose. A tube amp will always sound better in my opinion. Fender makes very expensive amps and very cheap amps just like most other companies like Marshall or VOX. If you are gigging or jamming with folks and need that kind of power, I’m not sure you will find a much better deal. If you play at home look into a low watt Class A tube amp like the Marshall Class 5 or VOX AC4TV. The Fender Super Champ XD is a good choice also.
I have an electro-acoustic guitar, but I haven’t bought an amp yet. I am not aware of the technical terms of amps, so sorry if my question sounds stupid. I wanted to know if you can get the same kinds of distortion and amplification as the electric guitar on an electro-acoustic one. For example, to play heavy-metal.
Do you use the same type of amps?
To be honest, no you will not get the same type of distortion. The hollow body of an acoustic-electric guitar is much more prone to feedback and overtones. You can get a pretty decent distortion tone, but don’t plug in expecting to hear Kirk Hammett or Jim Root flowing from your amp. As for amps, you can plug into a "standard" electric amp such as a Marshall or Randall, the preference is yours. If this is your primary guitar I would recommend a Fender acoustic amp with an acoustic multi-effects pedal. I’ve played through a Zoom acoustic effects pedal in the past and had pretty good results.
Introduction to ‘The Valve’ Bimbo 5W Amp with POWER SCALING
The BIMBO is a 5 watt amplifier that incorporates the preamp design based upon one of the most legendary rock guitar amplifiers ever produced in the early 1970 and it is able to achieve 100% full blast tube tone at low volumes operate from its full 5 watts of output power down to 1/20th watt still retaining the same tone!.
BIMBO CONTROL DESCRIPTIONS:
GUITAR Plug in guitar here. You can also use your favorite Overdrive or Distortion pedal in series with your guitar before plugging in here for extra gain.
ATTENUATION This can be thought of as the Bimbos unique way of controlling the overall volume of the amplifier even when the VOLUME and GAIN controls are run at full volumes for maximum crunch and sustain. This is one of the key controls which allows the Bimbo to achieve it’s large tone and low volumes.
Running the VOLUME at MAX (”Loud” position) and using the ATTENUATION to control overall volume allows the BIMBO to operate like a vintage tube amp that does not use Master Volume circuitry.
This is our favorite way of using the BIMBO for great tones since the power tube and transformer contribute to the sound.
Lowering the Attenuation control down to the “Whisper” position reduces the volume while the Power Scaling incorporated circuitry increases the gain at the same time by clipping the power amp allowing you to achieve full blast stack tube tone at whisper levels!
VOLUME This works like a conventional Master Volume you may have seen on other tube amps. It can also be used to control the volume of the amp but will produce a different sound than using the ATTENUATION.
Running the ATTENUATION at MAX and using the VOLUME to control overall volume allows the BIMBO to operate more like a modern tube amp.
This is also useful for getting good clean sounds with the BIMBO.
TONE A specially and carefully designed single TONE control that allows the player to get a wide range of classic guitar tones.
A brighter sound is achieved the more you crank to the right. Many of the best sounds are found in the 10-2 o’clock positions.
GAIN This controls the amount of input gain applied to the guitar signal. In combination with the VOLUME and ATTENUATION controls, this GAIN control can be used to dial in a wide variety of tones from clean to crunchy.
For those needing super hi-gain tones, the use of an overdrive or distortion pedal is advised.
RUN/REST This is the main ON/OFF switch for the amplifier. The “standby” feature normally found in tube amplifiers is built into this power switch thru the use of delayed power up sequence.

http://www.ehx.com The Cathedral, by electro-harmonix. Super versatile reverb with some sweet presets. The reverse setting is my favorite. Yes, I still hate reverb, but have given in to the fact that I must demo them anyway. I had only 7 minutes left on my camera tape, so I did a quick run through of the presets to show what could be done with the box of echos. I used my 59 historic les paul and a lovely Fender blues junior amplifier.

Bugera V22 guitar amplifier, mexican strat with Texas Specials in Front and Middle and a Lil 59 humbucker in back. Straight into the amp with no effects, amp is hardly even turned up and sounds better cranked. Great amp for the money…Recorded this with a small sony digital camera. I apologize for the bad off the cuff playing but I wanted you to hear the tone of the amp.

I am on a smallish budget, and i have a good guitar (Epiphone sg-g400), and I have got a goodish amp (30W), I like to play a whole variety of songs so i am looking for a effects pedal with a massive variety of effects. I have looked at a few and the boss me-20 looks quite good! I am now wondering if there is anything that is better?
The very latest model is the Boss me25, it is pc compatible, so you can mod your own effects and record!. there is a deal on projectmusic.net with a free power supply.
i hope this helps.

i am trying to buy headphones that serve a main purpose to be plugged into an amp. i tried a 1/4 adapter with regular headphones (like those on mp3s) and the sound is horrible and low. does anyone have any recommendations? nothing over 40 or 50$ at the most
also, ive heard of the Vox amPlug guitar amp and i was wondering if (unlike with amps) any headphones work fine with it, or would i still need headphones with better quality than regular mp3-like ones?
Even with high-quality headphones, it’s always going to sound a little weird when you plug them into an amp.
A good pair of headphones comes in handy though. On a $50 budget I’d recommend the AKG K77’s. They’ll serve you well for recording, monitoring, practicing, etc.
I got a Fender Bassman tube amp and I’m trying to connect it my TA-16 solid state amp.The TA-16 has a reverb output which I got an adapter to connect to an audio cable, I connected the audio cable to my tube amp and it looked good. But the sound comes out of the amp I connect to (The solid state amp.I want it through the tube amp). What I’m doing wrong? Sorry if thats confusing.
Are you trying to get the solid state to run out of the Bassman speakers or the Bassman to run out of the solid state speakers? Or are you just trying to run both amps at the same time?
