I am looking to upgrade to a 100W so I can use it in case I were to play a gig or something of the sort.
I was looking at a fender 212r Frontman 100W, and I wanted to know if amps like these can give a good high quality clean sound when playing songs like island in the sun or The Reason, but also play hard rock songs. I currently have a Spyder 15W amp. Suggestions on a certain brand or model are also appreciated.
amps only supply power to drive speakers. Speakers make sounds.
which amp set do you prefer
digital effects processing and signal chain:line 6
overall sound/tone if effects aren’t a factor: fender
between these ones:
-deluxe players strat
-roadhouse strat
-lone star strat
-standard strat
and… what does HSS mean? and what is the advantage of a locking tremolo?
although i know little about guitars, im actually not that bad a player!
i like playing blues and rock- love david gilmour, jack white and dire straits.
and what amps do you recommend?
thanks a lot in advance!
I don’t know the specifics between the models, but from what I do know, I think the Lone Star model is a better produced model. The low end Strats basically have cheaper materials used for construction and are put together on an assembly line by non-"luthier" type workers. HSS just means that out of the three pickups, one is a Humbucker (H), these are commonly referred to as a "Fat Strat".
For amps, from what you described you want to sound like, I would recommend some fender tube amps for that glassy clean and moderate gain.

My guitar kit comes with a 10watt Fender amp, I was wondering if they are good quality or will I need to buy a better one separate?

here’s the amp:

this will be fine for someone who is just starting. but more experienced players will not get the satisfaction out these amps as you would with more expensive ones. but you can cross that bridge when you get to it.
I am thinking of buying this amp as its inexpensive and yet a powerful 100watt.
I notice other fender amps are much more expensive and wonder how good is this amp.
I will be putting my Fender Mexican Strat.through it and a drum machine.
If anyone out there has one can you give me an honest appraisal of it please?
Many thanks to you all for your help.

I am about to purchase a new amp, but i dont want it to be too expensive. i found 100 watt fender amp for $300, is it worth it? if not, what amps are good budget amps?
I assume you’re talking about the Frontman. It is as good as most any $300 solid state amp I suppose. A tube amp will always sound better in my opinion. Fender makes very expensive amps and very cheap amps just like most other companies like Marshall or VOX. If you are gigging or jamming with folks and need that kind of power, I’m not sure you will find a much better deal. If you play at home look into a low watt Class A tube amp like the Marshall Class 5 or VOX AC4TV. The Fender Super Champ XD is a good choice also.

I got a Fender Bassman tube amp and I’m trying to connect it my TA-16 solid state amp.The TA-16 has a reverb output which I got an adapter to connect to an audio cable, I connected the audio cable to my tube amp and it looked good. But the sound comes out of the amp I connect to (The solid state amp.I want it through the tube amp). What I’m doing wrong? Sorry if thats confusing.
Are you trying to get the solid state to run out of the Bassman speakers or the Bassman to run out of the solid state speakers? Or are you just trying to run both amps at the same time?
Friend of mine has some old tube amps laying around. Will know exactly what brand later today, going to look at em. She’s got 3, dunno if they’re all the same brand but she said one of em was made by a company called Herts or something like that, that used to co-advertise with fender amps. All tube, over 20 years old, anybody have any leads or ideas that can help me identify what I’m working with here? She said if I can fix em, I can have em.
I assume they are NOT working.
Your main problem is going to be finding schematics and/or tubes no matter WHAT brand on something that old.
