I play electric guitar in a church and recently bought a digitech rp355 effects unit that has an xlr out that plugs me directly to the sound board. It seems that no matter how much I adjust the tones and levels in my unit, the sound guys keep telling me that I am red lining and clipping the soundboard. How can I get the tones I want while pleasing the sound guy??
The problem may be that the effects unit puts out a LINE LEVEL signal. You cannot feed that to a MIC LEVEL input on the mixer. Turning it down may help but it may not. The better way to do this is to use the 1/4 inch output of the effects unit and feed that to a direct box. The direct box will cut down the line level signal from the effects unit to a nice mic level signal that the mixer can handle. Here is a good direct box that will not break the bank:

I have a Keyboard,an electric guitar and a Marshall amp with overdrive distortion, but don’t have guitar processors,i’m planning to buy Yamaha MG82CX and cubase for recording,i would like to know whether it has some inbuilt guitar effects or i need to buy processors.
Yes, it does have a few guitar effects – that may or may not be enough for you – see the picture on this link of the front of the mixer to get an idea:

I’ve had alot of emails wanting demos of regular, more affordable pedals, so I bought a pile of digitech and danelectro pedals to take for a spin for ya. The new Dano Cool Cat Fuzz box. Didn’t really do it for me, but for the price, I guess it’s a cool fuzzbox….you decide!
