    Both sound great, …
Both sound great, but the blackface sounds a little greater. It’s just got more of “that” sound.

BTW, for someone just learning harp, who is the best player to listen to? For guitar I think Freddy King is best for beginners — you can learn all the essential licks from him. Who is the Freddy King of harmonica?

Also, what is a good entry level mic? Are there any new inexpensive ones that can get you, say, 80% of the tone of a classic mic?

I’d take the Blackface over the Silverface any day of the week. The Blackface sounds warmer and more powerful. The Silverface registers in my mind as “shrill” in comparison.
