my uncle has been playing guitar for a long time. i play too. and my birthday is coming up and he said he will give me one of his amps but only between these two(he has a bunch of gear)
i have the choice of taking a free Fender Hot Rod Deluxe
OR a Mesa Boogie studio 22
witch one should i take!!!!!!!
Mesa Boogie is a good blues amp but is not as clean once you crank it pass 6. But, the sound is a killer. This is a reliable amp. With a Les Paul and Seymour Duncan pickups, the amp growls. The only thing with this amp is to use a patch cable in the effects loop. This is because the amp tends to cut and this solves the problem 100%.
The Fender Deluxe is a super clean amp and works well with Boss distortion unit. The amp has a lot of bass aso you need to se it in the middle and boost the mids a little to get bite. Personally, the Fender is a better amp because it is cleaner. If I need a rock or dirty sound, i use the Boss DS-1.
