For what your going to be using it for you need the G-DEC. All your effects are already in it and it has a higher quality sound than the Frontman. Most little amps sound like little amps. Because the G-DEC is all digital with built-in effects, it sound like a bigger, better amp. I personally play a Fender ‘65 Twin-Verb driven by TS-808 Tube Screamer. But that can get a little expensive. For practice purposes the G-DEC is great.

better off buying the top dog though…a Marshall is the best.

G-DEC The frontman is okay, but the G-DEC will help you with solo/improv practice

The G-DEC has tracks recorded on it so you can play along with it – kind of a gimic for people that don’t know how to play (some say a good teaching aid). The Frontman is just a small 15 Watt amp and is probably good for what you are looking for (and I think less expensive). Frontman does not have effects built in however. For that look at the little Vox amp (about $230) with one ten inch speaker in it, it has lots of cool effects and a really big sound for a small amp.

Here's the deal, The G-Dec is a practice amp with a new twist. It has backing tracks on it to play to. Meaning it has bass and drum tracks on it in different styles of music, rock,blues,etc.. It also has effects on it as well, chorus,delay etc.. I believe they have also put patches on it from famous guitar players like Eric Johnson etc.. to imitate their sound(s). The Frontman is a regular amp, I would have to look at the specs to see if it has effects. I know it doesn't have backing tracks.

I haven't heard of the D-DEC, but Frontman's are nice beginner amps. If you really want to, go to your local music store, where you can ask a professional.
