I want to buy an guitar but i don’t want to spend money on an amp.Can you tell me if i can connect the electric guitar to a home theater system or i need a amp?
You could, but you would also need some kind of guitar pre-amp.
You’d have to connect the guitar through some kind of small pre-amp and connect the output to the home theatre!
The pre amp is needed to amplify the very weak signals from the guitar output, and also to allow you to change the sound of the guitar a bit if you wanted.

There are ways to get your guitar to come out of your home theatre, but it will sound like crap and potentially destroy your system.
Besides, half of your guitar tone is your amp. You can get a practice amp for around $100 new, or check craigslist for used ones.

well you can use a home theater system as a SUBSTITUTE for an amp. but you can get only a clean tone from it… the quality of sound will depend on your system. also if u want distortion you can connect it to a processor eg. zoom connecting the guitar on the input and the output of the processor to the input of the home theater system. for that purpose u will probably have to buy a converter that can convert ur guitar cables end to be able to connect to the jack of the home theater system.

Dude, go to Radio Shack….they have a cord that is an adapter that changes from the guitar male end to (2) RCA’s….simply plug it into your RCA input jacks on your stereo….I did this for about a year before I finally got the money for an amp.
It only costs about $4.
