This video is the first take I did for the demo/review of a Roland AC60 Acoustic guitar amplifier I recently had and sold. I used my custom made Taylor 712E (and the Ovation Celebrity Series CC045 12 String towards the end). I was deleting old files and gave it one last listen and decided it would be good and possibly beneficial to post it (for anyone who was looking at the amp and wanted to hear it with a different guitar)…besides, I think I gave the amp a more thorough going through on this take. The video recording was done with a JVC GR-D850 miniDV Camcorder using the built in microphone.
The guitar is plugged straight into the Roland AC60 Acoustic amp without any outboard effects at all.

Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers a viewers question…
Q: I would like to ask you how to set up amplifiers for different purposes. I use a Fender Stratocaster and an Epiphone hollow body electric guitar I use a Fender Deluxe 50 Watts all tube amp. I also have a Line 6 POD which I use for effects. Can you explain to me how to approach setting my amp bass, treble, middle, presence, master levels.
1). In order to get a clean bright jazzy sound like George
Benson, or Wes Montgomery with my Epiphone?
2). To get a clean country style rhythm sound with my
Stratocaster?
3). To get a distorted or overdrive sound for a guitar solo
similar to; for example Foreigner, or David Gilmore?
4). Also would be interested in other sounds such as metal.

A: Pursuing sounds between; amps, guitars and effects units can be a long and often frustrating journey. And, just when you think you’ve got that perfect sound at home… You’ll get to the gig and your amp could mysteriously sound terrible. In this video I will discuss various common settings for; Country, Jazz, Rock and Metal.

http://www.buildyourownclone.com Tell em’ gearmanndude sent ya! This may be the best over drive pedal ever offered. You can totally make it your own with a few little changes to the circuit. This is the stock version, with my http://www.kingbeeguitars.com relic telecaster and http://www.jaguaramplification.com JAGUAR TWIN amplifier. This over-drive has a boost switch, and a bunch of other options you can select with switches….totally happenin’ little box of grooviness.

This amp gets some great sounds using a strat or a 335 straight into amp with no pedals. The volume in the room was very loud though. The brightness switch is always ON for that glassy fender sound. The Celestion Vintage 30 speaker sounds noticeably smoother after it has had some time to break-in. I sped up the process by connecting the speaker directly to a 400w mono QSC power amp and played the local R&B/Rap radio station through it for about 8 hours at a safe volume. When I got home from work and reconnected the speaker, it sounded fantastic.
The overdrive settings starting at 1:30 were:
(Channel 1)
Gain: 8
Volume: 2
Treble, Bass, Middle all three set to: 5
Boost: OFF
Presence: 6
Reverb: 5
Stock tubes were replaced with ‘early breakup’ set (see below) of JJ Electronic Eurotubes:

Traynor YCV40 – High gain option.
A pair of the JJ 6L6GC’s along with three hand picked high gain ECC83S’s with one of them being balanced for the phase inverter in V3. For you players who need a little more edge! These are fixed bias amps so please use the comments box before checking out to let me know if your after max headroom, middle of the road, or an earlier breakup from the clean channel so I can pick the proper grade for the power tubes.
The 335 humbuckers were a DiMarzio Air Norton in the bridge and a Gibson ‘57 Classic in the neck. The strat was a mahogany Fender American Select Stratocaster HSS with a Diamondback humbucker and two Tex-Mex single-coils.
